The incident
A driver was recently arrested in Mankato for an alleged DWI. The driver had allegedly rear-ended another car at the intersection of Timberwolf Drive and Heron Drive and then left the scene. The driver who was hit followed the other driver into the parking lot of Rosa Parks Elementary school where the driver was allegedly trying to get into the school. Authorities were called to the scene and a breathalyzer test administered on the driver read .23, almost three times the legal limit. A 9-year-old boy was found in the defendant’s car as well. The defendant has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash and DWI.
Legal recourse
A person who is facing serious criminal charges like a DWI may want to speak with an attorney who specializes in criminal defense. An attorney can review the circumstances surrounding the arrest and offer their client suggestions on a defense strategy. An attorney understands that a lot is on the line in a DWI case and will aggressively defend their client against these serious charges.
A DWI conviction in Minnesota is serious. A person can face license suspension, loss of property, thousands of dollars in fines and even jail time. Having an attorney to represent their legal rights can make a big difference.
